Foraging for food, fire & fibre
7th February 2026

This one day workshop is an in-depth look at edible and useful plants growing in our local environment. It's a hands-on experience where you learn how to identify, sustainably harvest and put to use a broad range of endemic and introduced plants.

Saturday- Foraging for FOOD, FIRE and FIBRE

The focus on the first part of the day is Foraging for wild FOOD
-
Includes Native bushtucker found right here on site in a bushland environment

We begin by taking a foraging walk through the bush and back along the Tweed river. We will be out walking and talking for about 2 hours so make sure you bring drinking water and a pack. (The walking component is only about 1km…there is lots of stopping and learning along the way.)
-
Learn about toxic/harmful plants and the dangers of incorrect identification
-
Learn to identify and correctly prepare plant material.
-
Sustainable harvesting practise, how to collect plant material from native bushland without having an adverse effect on the environment.

In the afternoon session we discover how to create FIRE from friction and learn what plants are used for this process
